Jayla ("we," "our," or "us") operates the jayla.app website and mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials. If you sign in through Google or Apple, we receive the profile information you authorize those services to share.

Profile information. During onboarding, we collect your industry, role level, AI tools you have access to, and your preferred daily learning goal. This information is used to personalize your learning experience.

Learning data. We collect information about your progress through lessons, including completed tasks, practice attempts, XP earned, streak data, and time spent in the app.

Practice content. When you use the AI practice sandbox, we store the prompts you write, the AI responses generated, and the coaching feedback provided. This data is used to improve your learning experience and our service.

Device and usage information. We automatically collect device type, operating system, app version, and general usage patterns to improve performance and fix bugs.

Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Apple (for iOS in-app purchases) or Stripe (for web subscriptions). We do not store your credit card number or bank details. We receive confirmation of your subscription status and transaction identifiers.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, personalize, and improve your learning experience
• Generate AI responses and coaching feedback during practice sessions
• Track your progress, streaks, and achievements
• Process subscriptions and manage your account
• Send you notifications you've opted into (such as streak reminders)
• Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve our curriculum and features
• Communicate with you about service updates or changes

AI Processing

When you use the practice sandbox, your prompts are sent to third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic's Claude API) to generate responses and coaching feedback. These prompts are processed in real time and are subject to the AI provider's usage policies. We do not use your individual prompts to train AI models. Aggregate, anonymized patterns from practice sessions may be used to improve our curriculum.

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• AI providers: Practice prompts are sent to our AI provider to generate responses, as described above.
• Payment processors: Subscription transactions are processed by Apple or Stripe.
• Infrastructure providers: We use Supabase for database hosting and authentication. Your data is stored securely on their infrastructure.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.
• Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

Data Retention

We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes. Anonymized, aggregate analytics data may be retained indefinitely.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your learning data
• Opt out of non-essential communications

Children's Privacy

Jayla is designed for working professionals and is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will delete it promptly.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the app or by email. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
